Is Baklava Eaten Hot or Cold?
Updated: May 7, 2021
Jamila’s Cookies is the online bakery that delivers our one-of-a-kind, delectable, and delicious Maamoul Cookies made from scratch and delivered straight to your door. But did you know? We also produce Baklava - a Turkish classic!
What is Baklava?
Not sure what Baklava is? Truly authentic Baklava is made with honey, ghee, wheat flour, pistachio nuts, walnuts, cashew nuts, and water cornstarch and has a delectable crunchy and tender texture. We glaze ours with honey and pack them with the pistachios, walnuts and cashews that our customers love. Commonly, a Baklava (or two!) is often enjoyed with a cup of tea or coffee as a snack between meals - but it might equally be considered as a dessert.
The sweet honey and nut mixture is sandwiched between layers of filo pastry which we bake to the point at which it turns golden brown. This is what gives our Baklava its enigmatic and delicious flavour. In fact, all of our Baklavas are made fresh to order, using our longstanding homemade recipe. Aside from nuts, other allergens to look out for are butter, milk and wheat - but Baklava is very much suitable for vegetarians.
Should Baklava be eaten hot or cold?
We recommend storing Baklava in airtight containers, where they tend to last up to a fortnight from the date of despatch. As one of the very select few online bakeries to deliver delicious Baklava straight to your door, we are confident in the knowledge that our bakes are some of the tastiest Baklava in the world. We bake them the old fashioned way, using only the freshest and best quality ingredients with a recipe that has been passed down through our ancestry.
While Baklava will always remain the perfect treat for your next family party or dinner party, Jamila’s Cookies’ Baklava is definitely the best. There is a debate over how Baklava should be served, though. There is no definitive rule on how to serve Baklava but when thinking about your Baklava temperature, be sure to consider how your family likes to enjoy it best.
We normally prepare our Baklava in large pans, which after baking is drizzled in honey and allowed to soak in. For that reason, our Baklava is usually served at room temperature when fresh and is often garnished with ground nuts. We ship our Baklava at room temperature too and encourage you to store it where it will ensure it remains fresh. That said, there is no harm in heating your Baklava up if you would prefer to enjoy it warm rather than chilled or at room temperature as it is most typically served.
So, when serving Baklava for your family or friends next, just be sure to ask them how they’d prefer to enjoy it. That way, nobody will be disappointed and everybody will get to enjoy Jamila’s Cookies’ world-beating Baklava! For more information, visit: https://www.jamilascookies.co.uk/
