Maamoul is a Middle Eastern / Mediterranean filled pastry or cookie made with dates, nuts such as walnuts and cashew nuts or fruits.
Maamoul cookies are usually made for events such as Christmas, Easter or Eid, which is then served with Coffee or Tea (typically mint) with friends and family. It's extremely popular through the Middle Eastern region but is starting to spread throughout the UK.
Do Maamoul Cookies really have health benefits?
The short answer is yes! However, let me explain why:
Our range of Maamoul Cookies include options containing both nuts and dried fruits which are both regarded as nutritious ingredients. Our nuts maamoul cookies would contain good sources of fat, fibre and protein. Most of the fat in nuts is monounsaturated fat, as well as omega-6 and omega-3 polyunsaturated fat. However, they do contain some saturated fat. Nuts also pack many vitamins and minerals, including magnesium and vitamin E. Although we talk about healthy ingredients like most treats, it's not wholly guilt-free!
We also have our date filled Maaoul cookie which we know as all fruits contain healthy benefits for your body. While dates aren't typically in every fruit basket, they are known to provide the body with three amazing benefits which include;
Lower cholesterol - There's no cholesterol and contains virtually zero fat. Dates can be seen to help keep a check on cholesterol levels.
Rich in vitamins - Dates contain vitamins such as B1, B2, B3 and B5, as well as A1 and C. If you have a few dates every day, you won't have to take vitamin supplements.
Improves bone health - Dates are rich in selenium, manganese, copper, and magnesium, and all of these are required when it comes to keeping our bones healthy.
We could go on about some of the health perks hidden in our Maamoul cookies, but now that you know you can have a bit less guilt while enjoying a sweet treat, give one of our luxury cookies a go!
